I’ve been gradually going through my backlog of photos that I never got around to sorting, editing, and publishing. I’ve been meaning to get these shots from our 2008 trip to Oahu and Kauai posted for a long time, would make some progress, and then life intervened. I now have finally got them sorted and put together into an album. We started out this trip at Deb and Mary’s place in Honolulu. Sadly, Nancy, the older westie in the photos passed away during the past year. We continued our stay on Oahu with a couple of days at the Ihilani in Ko’olina where I was able to get a couple of days of diving in with Ocean Concepts out of Waianae. We then flew to Kauai for a week at our Princeville timeshare. See the album here or click on the photo to the left.

Family Gathers for Passover 2012

Both the Zeleznik and Klein families gathered at our house to celebrate the second night of Passover. Having 24 people for a sit-down meal was challenging, but Max, as always, organized the logistics so it worked out perfectly. Everyone brought an assigned dish and we served buffet style. Reivan updates his Haggadah each year, which I then adapted slightly to account that we had both families together and several do not read Hebrew. We gave each person their own “mini seder plate” so that the service would flow without long pauses to distribute the various Passover symbols. My aunt Lynn took some photos and a cellphone video of our performance of “The Ballad of the Son of Yochabed”. You can see them here, or click on the photo to the left.

March Weekend in NYC for Flo’s Birthday

It was another one of those ridiculously warm and beautiful March weekends when Max and I went into NYC for a celebration of my mother in-law, Florence Klein’s, 79th birthday. We had a great Friday night anniversary dinner at La Grenouille, then a Saturday matinee to see “How to Succeed in Business”. Saturday evening we gathered with family at the Water Club on the East River to celebrate Flo’s 79th birthday. Click on the photo to the left or here to see the album.

Fall Weekend on Pleasant Lake, NH

In the Fall, we attended a friend’s wedding on Lake Sunapee, NH. We stayed nearby on Pleasant Lake where I had a chance to do some great kayaking Saturday morning. I took my camera out in the kayak and managed to catch some nice photos and a short video of the ducks and loons quietly ignoring me as they swam and dove for their lunch. We had such a great time, both above and below water, last year in Grand Cayman that we returned again in January. Staying at the Ritz Carlton again, Max was able to enjoy golfing, while Dave did five solid days of diving plus a half-day underwater photography course, given as a birthday present by his brothers and sisters in-law. Restaurants were great as always and we managed to get out on a private charter to Stingray City for Max’s first encounter with the friendly critters.

Manics Pick On Monahan at TPB 2011

As a tribute to the talent of our dear friend and Chairman For Ever (CFE) of the Manic Mt. Boys, Tom Monahan, the Manics spent the second half of 2011 making a recording of 15 songs from his large repertoire. The CD, called “The Manics Pick on Monahan”, has just been released with all proceeds going to Compassionate Care ALS, the group who helped Tom and his wife during his long illness. WordPress Blog / FaceBook Integration

I am starting to experiment with the Add Link to Facebook plugin for WordPress. The plugin seems to provide complete integration between my website blog and Facebook, including integration of comments between both locations. So far, so good, more to come…

Underwater Photography

I’ve been doing underwater photography since my very first years of diving in the early 1980′s, starting out with a Nikonos V and SB103 flash, and shooting FujiChrome. I’m now on my third digital setup with a Canon G12 and twin Inon strobes. I’ve published my more recent work on the website, but the photos are scattered throughout the gallery which is arranged according to the specific vacation we were on. So, I have put together this quick list that provides direct access to the underwater photos that I am most proud of:

Soggy Spring Trip to Kauai

Our soggy Spring 2011 trip back to our timeshare on the North shore of Kauai. This was my first set of dives with my new underwater camera setup. So, there was a bit of a learning curve, but the results were pretty good considering that the visibility was not great due to all the turbulence.
