Back to Grand Cayman, this year a week earlier in January so that we could attend Eric Ripert's Cayman Cookout, the permiere culinary event in the Caribbean
1 After a day of totally screwed up travel and finally receiving our luggage, we woke up Thursday morning to our ocean view. Nice!
2 Thursday night we walked across the street to the Sunshine Grill, a very popular little Cuban shack amongst some condos. We always love their fried blue cheese appetizer, but couldn't stop laughing after we saw it itemized on the bill!
3 Al La Kebab is another great little takeout joint on 7 Mile Beach where we picked up lunch at least twice during our stay

5 New discovery, Tim Buc Tuu diner up in West Bay. I pass it every morning on my way to the dock for diving and had never stopped before. Great local style jerk stews and real friendly owner. We'll have to go back next time for their Friday night $9.99 curried lobster special.

7 Our last night in Grand Cayman we had dinner at the Cracked Conch. We had eaten lunch here before and were impressed by their booth at the Sunday Cayman Cookout brunch.
8 Nice outdoor patio overlooking the surf breaking against the ironshore. The area down below is the bar and scuba entry area.
Saturday started with a trip to Rum Point by catamaran, stopping first at Stingray City. Then a hysterical session with Eric Ripert and Tony Bourdain. Dinner was at Ortanique in Camana Bay, where Spike Mendelsohn paired with local chef Cindy Hutson.
Sunday was the final day of the Cayman Cookout, starting with an over-the-top champagne brunch and chef cookoff. The final gala dinner was a seven course meal, each course prepared by one of the celebrity chefs.
Four days of diving were needed to burn off all the excess calories and decadence from the Cayman Cookout. Once again, thanks to Chris and Kate Alpers at Indigo Divers for the great time.
