My folks' house, Winter 1974. You can see the camper we used to return East cross-country from California along the left side of the house. There was a huge ice storm that knocked out power for over a week. To keep warm we burned wood in the fireplace which we slept in front of in sleeping bags. After several days, chinks in the chimney mortar resulted in the rafters and the roof catching fire.
View from rear of my folks' house, Winter 1974 during the ice storm. You can just make out Mocha, our German Shepherd, who had a dog run between two trees.
Mom and I accompanied Deb to a Young Judea convention in Atlantic City. Our hotel overlooked the Steeplechase Pier and its amusement park.

My mother, Spring of 1974. I was 17, a junior in HS so she would probably have been 37 since her birthday is in June. I took this beauty shot to finish out a roll of slide film I needed to get developed.
In senior year my group of friends devised a clever plan to get our group picture into the yearbook. We formed an extracurricular club called the United Peoples Apathetic Front. Our mantra was that we did nothing, we proudly stood for nothing, and we didn't care! It took some convincing, but we recruited our history teacher to be the club sponsor once he learned that he had very little to supervise.
