2 They are easily replaceable with ones that will project a design onto the ground. The first step is to pop out the existing light assemblies with a nylon non-marring trim tool. I see all sorts of people online doing this with a screwdriver, but IMO that is just asking for scratches to the paint. Aim for the side of the assembly that has the little notch in its bezel.

You can spend north of $150 to buy the official BMW kit of 2 lamps if you want or you can go to Amazon like I did and find $15 knockoffs that work absolutely perfectly. Search for "puddle" or "welcome" lights. Use the provided adapter cables to plug them in and verify they illuminate.
